Why Bigfoot?

The Symbol

Somewhere along the way, I stopped believing in magic.

It probably happened slowly. Headphones blocked out birdsong. The questions quieted, and the world became something to explain instead of explore. And if I’m honest, I miss that feeling.

That’s where Bigfoot came in.

Bigfoot represents the wild unknown parts of the world. They are a reminder that no matter how many skyscrapers we build, we still belong to nature. They reflect a part of us that still longs to slow down, to feel the earth beneath our feet, to watch the wind ripple the grass. Bigfoot reminds us of the times we’ve felt most connected to ourselves and nature whether that’s fishing, stargazing, birdwatching, or noticing the yellow buttercups among the grass.

It’s important to return to our inner worlds. When we’re mindful, it becomes clear what is actually important. Then, we can ground ourselves, and work towards building a life and world we actually want.

This series is about more than just a cryptid, it’s about slowing down, and being intentional. I hope these pieces act as a reminder to look inward, to remember what you want for yourself and your community, and to take small steps to work towards a better earth.
